Maynard Lawrence Kettner, age 86, of the Town of Ellington, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at Country Villa in Freedom, Wisconsin. Maynard was born in Appleton on May 11, 1939 to the late Andrew and Rose (Diemer) Kettner. He married Rose Bodoh on September 14, 1963. Maynard and Rosie shared more than 62 years together before her recent passing on May 16, 2025.
Maynard served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a sheet metal worker in the HVAC industry. He formerly taught sheet metal at FVTC and was once honored with "Instructor of the Year." Maynard was well known for his flower gardens, growing roses and gladiolas to give to friends. He enjoyed doing brat fry fundraisers and helping cook for church dinners.
Maynard is survived by his sister, Kathy Griesbach; brother-in-law, Larry Weyers and sister-in-law, Jean Zuleger, along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosie; brothers, Robert and Jerome and sister-in-law, Bea (Bodoh) Weyers and numerous in-laws.
The Funeral Mass for Maynard will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville, with Fr. Phil Schoofs as celebrant. The visitation will take place from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Full Military Honors will be held following Mass. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
The family wishes to give a special thank you to the staff at Freedom Country Villa and Compassus Hospice.
