Melissa Young Obituary

It is with great sadness to announce that Melissa Cote Young of Dover passed away Sunday, July 20, 2025 at Accent Care, Wilmington hospital surrounded by her loved ones.
Melissa was born October 25, 1974 in Dover, Delaware to Michael Wayne Cote and Norene "Renie" May Davis.
Throughout the years Melissa had many various jobs although her most rewarding job was raising her two beautiful children. Her favorite place to work was the Little School as a teachers aid. Melissas love for little ones was seen through her kindness, attentiveness, and above all her patience. She had a way to calm a child, get them to smile, give them the security to know they were safe while in her care, and was the first to get on the floor to play with them.
Melissa was also very involved and supportive of her children and their many activities. They were her world and her love for them shined through with everything she did. She loved day trips as a family to the beach, being sure to include their dog Millie, pool days filled with family, and the many gatherings during the holidays. She loved cheering on her son, playing soccer and supporting her daughter with theater. She will always be remembered for how her eyes lit up while holding a little one and the immeasurable love she had for her children.
Melissa was proceeded in death by her grandparents and sister Lisa Ann Mullaney.
Melissa is survived by her children, Avery Rose Young of New York City, NY and Carter Thomas Young of Dover; her father, Mike Cote and his wife Karen of Dover; her mother, Norene "Renie" Mullaney and her husband Tim of Dover; siblings Lynn Burke and her husband Matthew of West Chester, PA; Brian Cote and his wife Elizabeth of Clayton, Shannon Coble and her husband Christopher of Dover; Timothy Mullaney, Jr and his wife Kristen of Camden; Courtney Hacker and her husband Jeremy of Harrington; and Brittany Marie Cote of Dover; her nieces and nephews; Aubrey, Nolan, Drew, Jenna, Hayden, Addison, Logan, Jaxson, Evan, Rylan, McKenna, Jameson, Carson, Kennedy, Ivy.
Funeral services will be held 11AM, Monday, July 28, 2025 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. A visitation will be held at 10AM. Interment will be in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Dover.
