Melvin Lee Neibling
1955-2025
Gallatin, MO: Melvin Lee Neibling, 70, of Gallatin, Missouri, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2025, at a Kansas City hospital.
He was born on February 25, 1955, in Salina, Kansas to Charles and Josephine (JoAnn Neel) Conn, then later adopted by Oscar and Charlotte Neibling. He grew up in Highland, Kansas on the Neibling family farm. He went to Highland Community College in Highland and then went to Missouri Western State College in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was in the National Guard for 10 years before going active-duty Army for 20 years, during which time was part of The Gulf War Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. After he retired from Fort Sill, Oklahoma, he continued working as a civilian military instructor. He loved being outdoors, spending time with family, and hated sitting still.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Mason Goetz who passed in 2023; a daughter, Charlene Neibling; biological parents, Charles Conn and Josephine Neel Lemon; adopted parents, Oscar and Charlotte Neibling; three sisters, Sharon, Donna, and Joyce Conn; and four brothers, Charles, Alvin, James "Jimmy", and Raymond Conn.
Melvin is survived by a daughter, Debra and her husband Jason Habhegger, Gallatin, MO; two grandsons, Nicholas Neibling, Lawton, OK and Joshua Habhegger, Gallatin, MO; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Price, Gallatin, MO and Jasmine Habhegger, Gallatin, MO; bonus granddaughter, Lilli Page, Commanche, OK; two brothers, Gary Neibling, Hiawatha, KS and Merlin Conn, Wichita, KS; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 5 at Roberson Funeral Home, Pattonsburg, MO. Burial with Military Rites will follow in Pattonsburg Memorial Gardens, Pattonsburg, MO. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.robersonfuneralhome.com.
