Jack Lynn Rex, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on August 6, 2025, at the age of 70 in
Lakeland, Florida. Born on June 1, 1955, in Warren, Pennsylvania, Jack was a man of integrity and warmth, whose life was a testament to the values of hard work, family, and the simple joys of the outdoors.
Jack was the beloved son of the late Robert and Louise Rex. His childhood was filled with fond memories and strong family bonds that he carried into his own family life. Jack's dedication to his family was evident in every aspect of his life. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Rose Rex, and a loving father to his children, Tracey Rex (Ted Smith), Troy (Jessica) Rex, Jason (Brittney) Sommers, Ryan (Violet) Sommers, and Justin Sommers. Jack's legacy continues through his eleven grandchildren, Sydney, Gavin, Holden, Alexis, Jordan, CJ, Jaxon, Ethan, Trinity, Ayden, Makenzie, and one great-grandchild, Bennett, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
Jack is survived by his brothers, Robert (Priscilla) Rex and Roger (Tami) Rex. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother James Rex. Jack's presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Professionally, Jack was known as a hard working diesel mechanic at R&L Carriers for more than 30 years until his retirement, a career that not only showcased his exceptional skills but also his commitment to excellence. His colleagues respected him for his expertise and his willingness to lend a hand whenever needed. Jack's work ethic and reliability made him a valued member of his professional community.
Beyond his work, Jack was a man of many interests. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, finding solace and excitement in the great outdoors. His love for country music was well-known among his friends and family.
As we bid farewell to Jack Lynn Rex, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by unwavering love for his family, a commendable work ethic, and a passion for the simple pleasures in life. His memory will be cherished and his stories retold, keeping the essence of who he was alive for generations to come. Jack's life was a journey of love, laughter, and resilience, and though he has left this world, the footprints he left on the hearts of many will never fade.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, August 14, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Lanier Funeral and Cremation Services, 717 Griffin Road

A funeral service will follow Friday, August 15, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Lanier Funeral and Cremation Services.
Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Cemetery in
Lakeland, FL.
