Merle Weber, age 81, of Cedar Lake Indiana passed away peacefully at home with his wife and children at his side Tuesday July 15, 2025. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Sylvia; his children, Christopher (Jen) Weishaar, Nancy (John) Supan, Ron (Deb) Weber, Tim (Barb) Weishaar, Jennifer (Steve) Weber, and Elke (Chris) Monaghan; 20 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Bernadine (Don) Anzelmo; and sisters-in-law, Sally Weishaar and Alyce Weishaar. Merle was preceded in death by his parents, August and Irene Weber; brothers, Oliver (Leola), Delmar (Edna), Gene (Shirley); sisters, Betty (Leonard), Bernice (Jim); parents in law, Thomas and Mary Shields; brothers-in-law, Terry (Leigh), Edward, Don, Alan (Phyllis), and Bruce (Anne).

Merle was born and lived in Crete most of his life. He graduated from Crete-Monee High School. Merle joined the Army after high schoo0, served in Germany for 4 years, and returned to Crete to became one of the best truck drivers ever-- always giving a helping hand and going the extra mile to help others with strength and kindness. After retirement, Merle loved spending summer days in Michigan, relaxing by the lake, golfing, taking "the littles" on golf cart rides, and enjoying a beer by the campfires. He enjoyed many years as a volunteer fireman and EMT in Crete and Steger. Merle loved watching the Cubs and Bears, with a little bet on the side to make the games a little more interesting.

Merle will be buried at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois on a future date yet to be determined with a celebration of life to follow.

Providence Hospice caregivers were absolutely amazing. Every single one of the caregivers will be remembered for their sincere love and care. Contributions in Merle's memory may be made to Northwest Indiana The Parkinson's Foundation of Highland, Indiana.
