Merlin Langston Thompson, Jr, “Bud” 64 passed away and went to be with the Lord on August 8, 2024. Bud was born March 25, 1960, the son of Merlin L. Thompson and Annie Elizabeth Hydrick Thompson of Jackson, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joe Merlin Thompson (Sonny). He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Tricia Thompson; two daughters, Celeste Stewart, Casey Noto (Frank), and a son, Trey Thompson (Nicole). He also leaves a sister, Linda Talley (Ronnie), and a brother, Jay Thompson, along with six adoring grandchildren, Colt and Gen Stewart, Elsie and Charlie Noto, and Riley and Sadie Thompson, as well as a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and precious friends.
Bud was an ultimate family man who loved nothing more than his wife, children, family, and friends. He kept a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. He was the rock and mentor to his loved ones. He was wise and a fantastic resource, and no matter the problem or situation, he was always willing to go the extra mile to ensure his loved ones were cared for. Bud was a selfless man who was always willing to help anybody in need. He was naturally gifted at making others smile and a fantastic storyteller. Bud was an easygoing man who befriended almost anyone who crossed his path. Bud had many hobbies and interests, including athletics such as cross country, where he excelled in high school. He also enjoyed water skiing, golf, and antique cars. He was an avid Harley-Davidson rider who enjoyed riding with his son and friends as much as possible. He was well-versed in military history and loved to watch the History Channel. Bud Thompson was the co-owner with his son Trey Thompson of the generational HVAC company Thompson Air Conditioning & Heating Inc. of Terry, MS. The family company was established in 1959 by Bud’s father. Bud quickly caught onto the trade as a young man and achieved the status of Master HVAC Mechanical Technician/Specialist. He would then continue to master his trade all the while passing on his knowledge and wisdom to his son Trey.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 12, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, MS. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, August 13th, 2024, at 10:00 am at Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery in Terry, MS.
