Michael Kollaja, a beloved son, brother, and uncle entered into rest on March 11, 2025, at age 72. He was born to Frank and Betty Ann Kollaja in Corpus Christi, Texas, on January 20, 1953.
Growing up in Corpus Christi, Michael discovered his innate talent for art and draftsmanship. After graduating from Richard King High School, he attended Gallaudet University in Washington, DC. He then returned to Texas where he received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree from Texas A&M University, College Station.
Michael's proudest accomplishments were his degree from Texas A&M as well as his career as a Technical Designer at Maverick Engineering, Houston, for over forty years. He enjoyed visiting his siblings in Sugarland, Cincinnati, Tulsa, Minneapolis, and Duesseldorf, Germany. He was charmed by the art and architecture of Paris and it was his favorite location in Europe. Throughout his life, he also made frequent visits to Corpus Christi to spend time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Betty Ann Kollaja. Left to cherish his memories are his siblings: Janet Baker, Eddie Kollaja (Barbara), Richard Kollaja (Susan), Ann Kollaja, and Diane Campman (Eric), as well as his many nieces and nephews: Jennifer, Matthew, Elizabeth, Ben, Elaine, Ingrid, Kim, Robert, Abby, Scotty, Lauren, and Katy.
He was laid to rest in Corpus Christi next to his parents on March 28 with a family graveside service followed by a celebration of his life at his favorite restaurant, Señor Jamie's.
