Michael Mason Obituary

Michael J. "Mike" Mason, age 61, of Sidney, NE, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025 in Sidney, just shy of his 62nd birthday. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, October 13, 2025 at the Faith Methodist Church in Sidney, with Bob Long Officiating. Services will be livestreamed on the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel Facebook page and recorded for later viewing on our website. Cremation has taken place and a private family burial will take place at a later date. Please join the family at the church after the service for a reception in Mike's honor. Mike was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend whose life was a testament to hard work, passion, and a love for the great outdoors.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Red Raider Booster Club, or Faith Methodist Church honoring Mike's love for the outdoors and his community.

Born on October 20, 1963 in Kearney NE, Mike grew up with a zest for life and a competitive spirit. He graduated in 1982 from Sidney High School where he was a proud member of the golf, track, and cross-country teams. His talents extended beyond athletics, as he also played in the school band and stage band, showcasing his creativity and dedication in all he pursued.
Mike's professional journey began at Cabela's, where he dedicated 35 years of his life. Starting on the loading dock, he worked his way up to become a purchasing agent specializing in fishing-a role that perfectly aligned with his passion for the outdoors. After his time at Cabela's, Mike continued his career at Worldwide Trophy Adventures, where he shared his expertise and enthusiasm with others.
An avid outdoorsman and golfer, Mike found joy in the simple pleasures of nature and the camaraderie of the golf course. He was a devoted fan of Nebraska athletics and cheered passionately for the Dallas Cowboys, always ready to discuss the latest game or share his unwavering loyalty to his teams. The Corn Club founded by John Mason and Tom Dorwart is a special gathering place. Mike and many friends kept the tradition going where so many fond memories will be shared for years to come.
Mike lived a full and independent life, embracing his passions and leaving a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. His love for his family, friends, and the outdoors was boundless.
Mike is survived by his mother Carol Mason, sister Kim (Gary) Baker, brother Mark (Denise) Mason, nieces Brianna (Alex), and Rachael, nephews Nathan (Eleni), JJ, Tyler, Steven, 2 grandnephews, special grandson Bodhi Melton and countless friends who will forever cherish his memory.

His legacy of kindness, determination, and a life well-lived will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know him.
