Michael Strauss Obituary

Michael "Mike" Strauss, age 60 of Seguin, passed away on July 15, 2025. Mike was born on August 22, 1964 in San Antonio, Texas to Bobby Ledsinger and Nancy Baker Strauss.
After graduating from Texas Military Institute, Mike enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Corpus Christi. His talent for tennis caught the attention of a colonel who shared his love for the sport, and Mike soon became his regular opponent - a fortunate turn that often kept him on the tennis court rather than on corpsman duty.
Following his military service, Mike entered the automotive industry, starting as a salesman and working his way up to general manager at several dealerships. Eventually, he partnered with his friend Will to co-own and operate a highly successful car business. Mike's work ethic, leadership, and charisma made him a beloved figure in the industry.
Mike loved his family deeply and cherished a wide circle of friends who felt like family. No matter what life brought his way, he remained upbeat and greeted everyone with his trademark smile. His favorite responses - "I'm good, bro," and "Hey bro, what's going on?" - became beloved parts of his presence.
A true outdoorsman, Mike enjoyed life's simple pleasures. He loved fishing, dove hunting during the season, and especially playing golf - always choosing to walk the course as his form of exercise. Beach vacations with his family in Port Aransas were among his most treasured memories. He kept his mind sharp with crossword puzzles and for a bit of fun, enjoyed trips to the casino with Gianna, always up for a little gambling and lots of laughs.
Known for his mischievous sense of humor, Mike was a good-natured prankster. If you saw that familiar eyebrow raise, you knew he was up to something. His warmth, humor, and zest for life left a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to know him.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Strauss.
Survivors include his loving wife of 29 years, Gianna Speir Strauss; daughters, Peyton Strauss, Bryn Strauss, and Avery Strauss; cousin, Billy Ledsinger and wife Lucy; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Georgia and Larry Speir; brothers-in-law, Alan Speir and wife Tanya, and David Speir and wife Sandy; sister-in-law, Rebecca Listak and husband Phil; numerous nieces and nephews, other loving family members and many friends.
Visitation will begin on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church followed by a memorial service celebrating Mike's life at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Jeremy Roy officiating. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
