Michelangelo Fichera, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was born in Rome, Italy, and raised in Catania, Sicily. He later immigrated to Brooklyn, New York at the age of 26 to marry the love of his life, Maria. Their enduring love story began with countless handwritten letters he sent her during the early years of their relationship-each one filled with devotion, tenderness, and promises of a shared future.
Michelangelo was a true Renaissance man: a gifted painter, an incredible chef, a talented landscaper, and a jack-of-all-trades who could build or fix just about anything. But more than his skills, it was his radiant smile, vibrant spirit, and open heart that made him unforgettable.
He had an infectious love for music and dancing, often filling his home with joyful melodies and impromptu twirls with Maria in the kitchen. He cherished time with his family above all else, and his pride in his Italian heritage was evident in everything he did-from the stories he told, to the meals he cooked, to the traditions he passed down.
Michelangelo is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Maria; his daughter, Sandy, and son-in-law, Salvatore; his son, Michelangelo, and daughter-in-law, Laurie; his sister, Carmela; his granddaughters, Amanda, Angelise, Melanie, and Alexa; his grandsons, Michelangelo IV, Matthew, and Salvatore; and many beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews in Catania.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and an enduring reminder that life, when lived with heart, can be a beautiful dance.
Friends and family are invited to visit on Thursday, July 3rd, from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM, at Freeman Manalapan Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North.
