Michelle Mills, 60, of Trenton, North Carolina, stepped into glory on July 13, 2025, full of life and wit until her very last breath.
A woman called and ordained to the ministry of the Gospel of Jesus Christ since 2001, her life bore powerful witness to the Kingdom of Heaven.
She was a founding member of Believer's Fellowship Church of Comfort, NC, where she was shepherded by Pastor Jesse Futrell for over 40 years. Through the decades, she became a spiritual mother, mentor, and friend to many-boldly proclaiming the truth and standing firm in her faith, no matter the cost. She vowed to serve and pray for her church and the people who entered it until her last day on earth. She held her post, and the Word of God was accomplished through her.
Michelle was known for her fierce determination, unshakable convictions, relentless hard work, and a love that was both challenging and profoundly sincere. She made lasting friendships wherever she went and left lasting impressions on every heart she touched. She had a high calling on her life that required her to be bold and audaciously honest, and no matter how this separated her from the world, her answer was always, "Yes, Lord." As a fervent prayer warrior, many people knew they could come to her for prayer, and her prayers pierced Heaven. She had the high honor of witnessing signs and wonders uncommon in this world. This is proof that she was undeniably the apple of God's eye.
While Michelle had many accomplishments in this life, none compared to her greatest joy: serving the Lord and winning souls for His Kingdom. She often quoted, "My sheep know my voice, and another they will not follow," because she knew Jesus personally, spent time with Him regularly, and walked in step with His Spirit. To Michelle, being a grandmother was the highest honor of her life-a title she wore with pride and deep affection.
She found peace and delight in simple pleasures-most especially fishing. A perfect day, in her words, was one spent on the water-fishing, wearing her cherished bandana or favorite hat. She thoroughly loved a good prank. To experience her laughter was a blessing to cherish. In all things, she lived with clarity, purpose, and a steadfast love for God's Word.
She never had an easy life, but Michelle knew the goodness of God-she had seen it, she had lived it, and she testified to it. Though there was truly no one else like her, her legacy lives on in those she ministered to, prayed over, laughed with, and loved. She was such a passionate presence and she never did anything halfway, including her sudden and unexpected departure from this life.
Her absence is and will be felt most deeply by her husband of 44 years, Gary Mills; their children, Brandy Jones (Craig), April Hardy (Kyle); stepdaughter, Joanna Smith; grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Lexi Hardy, Emily Jones, Caiden and Quinn Hardy, and Dylan Jones; sisters: Barbara Cooke, Ellen Murphy, and Rose (Bobby) Murphy; aunts: Lillie Mae Marshburn and Faye Kennedy; uncle: Johnny Futral; lifelong friends: Lisa (Dennis) Davis, Teddye (Mike) Park, and Susie Mills; and a whole bunch of nieces, nephews, greats, and cousins too many to name. Her church family will miss her tremendously.
As her Master and Savior welcomed into his arms, her arrival in Heaven is surely a celebration..
