Carmela "Millie" Bruno Barone 98, of Hamden, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2023. Millie was born in New Haven on December 11, 1924. Daughter of the late Orlando & Carmelina DePalma Bruno. Beloved wife of the late George Barone Sr. She was predeceased by her son George Barone Jr., siblings Thomas Bruno, Lawrence Bruno, John Bruno, Andrew Bruno, Frances Skibicki, Rose Baratta, Winnie Bencivenga, and Belinda Rice. Also predeceased by her cherished brother-in-law and sister-in-law Nicholas and Rosalie Barone.
She is survived by her devoted son and daughter-in-law Paul and Sharon Barone of Cheshire. Cherished Nonnie of Stephanie (Kevin) O'Keefe and Katherine Barone. Great Nonnie to Cameron and Weston O'Keefe.
Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Millie was a proud graduate of the Hospital of St. Raphael Nursing Class of 1945, a member of Hospital of St. Raphael Alumni and Sons of Italy Lodge 37.
A Mass of Christian burial celebrating her life was held at St. Bridget of Sweden in Cheshire. Interment was at All Saints Cemetery in North Haven.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Elim Park and Masonicare Home Health & Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc. was in care of Millie's arrangements.
