Mona Kay Weller passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025, at Hope Hospice Home in Cape Coral, Florida, at the age of 67. She was born on March 22, 1958, the daughter of the late Dale and Lois Weller; sister of Gail Weller Clark of Hampton, Ontario, and Paul Weller of Lees Summit, Missouri, and their families.

Mona graduated from Beardstown High School in 1976 as a member of the top ten of her class. She served as Co-Editor of the yearbook that year. She was in the National Honor Society, Chorus, Madrigal Singers, and much more. Mona went on to the College of St. Francis, Joliet and St. Louis campuses, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Mona worked at the Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, where she further studied radiation therapy as treatment for Cancer.

Mona took a sabbatical to accept an offer to join the American Cancer Society in Hawaii, to document and study facial Cancer in aging adults. Other accomplishments included writing and passing the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board in 1988. Published in Medical Journals, Mona won the Alpha Cradle Award for her writing on dosimetric aspects and immobilization treatment techniques of pituitary tumors.

In the 1990s, Mona accepted a prestigious position in Philadelphia at Hahnemann University Hospital with the Radiation Oncology Department. Mona was elected President of the American Association of Medical Dosimetrists in 1991 and served on the Board for several years. She presided over many national conferences to present new technology, clinical trials, and networking in the nuclear medicine field.

Mona retired to an adult community in Fort Myers, Florida, and enjoyed the remaining years of her life.

A private graveside service was held on June 3, 2025, and Mona was laid to rest near her parents in the Beardstown Cemetery. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown had the privilege of handling the arrangements. Please consider leaving a condolence at colwellmemorialhome.com.
