Mr. Ashley Crawley Obituary

Ashley Neal Crawley peacefully transitioned from this life on July 4, 2025, at Select Specialty Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. He was born on October 22, 1961, in Prince George, Virginia, to the late Thomas Griffin and Rosa Crawley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Crawley, Sr. and his grandparents Deacon William and Deaconess Bernice Taylor.

Ashley accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. He was baptized and joined Harrison Grove Baptist Church in Prince George, Virginia. He served faithfully as a member of the Usher Board and worked as a custodian at Harrison Grove Baptist Church until his health began to decline.

Ashley was a dedicated volunteer at the Food Pantry in Hopewell, Virginia. Before his passing, he had hopes of returning to the Pantry to continue his services. He loved the outdoors and took great pride in maintaining the family property. He enjoyed delicious home-cooked meals and was especially fond of watching HGTV and Cops on television.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his siblings: Albert Crawley, Dale Terry (Odell), Christine Thomas, Wanda Coleman (Calvin), Darlene Gholson, Marvin Crawley (Josephine), Bruce Crawley (Rosalyn), Michael Crawley and sister-in-law, Maryann Crawley. He also survived by his uncles Eugene Washington (Brenda) and James Taylor (Gertrude); devoted aunt Gladys Taylor-Powell (Willie); two great aunts Ida Mae Hall and Eddie Burton; a host of nieces and nephews, among them a devoted nephew Quincy Gholson and devoted cousins, including: Aretha Jones, Kenny Hall, Lamont Taylor, Lawrence and Theresa Coleman, Cheryl Tabron and Darryl Peterson and other relatives and friends to include: Jeanette Hector, Terry Claiborne, and Burton and Helen Coleman.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 Noon, Saturday, July 12, 2025 at the Harrison Grove Baptist Church, 10415 Merchants Hope Road, Prince George, VA. The Pastor, Rev. Calvin Lewis Sr., officiating. Interment will follow at 11am, Saturday, July 19th, at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, Prince George. Public visitation will be held from 10am-8pm, Friday, July 11, 2025 at the Petersburg chapel of Bland Funeral Home, 137 Harrison Street, Petersburg.
