Myrna Layne Cullen, 84, of Butler, New Jersey, formerly of Nutley, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 2, 2025. Born in Freeman, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Irvin Jordan and Effie Agnes (Neal) Adcock. Layne was a graduate of Johnston-Willis Hospital School of Nursing in Richmond, Virginia. She spent 40+ years at Mountainside Hospital in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, training generations of future medical professionals as a Nursing Educator.

A devoted wife, loving mother and adoring grandmother, Layne is survived by her dear husband of 62 years, John (Jack) Cullen; her loving daughters, Maureen Browning and her husband Steven Browning, and Deborah Stickle and her husband Thomas Stickle; her cherished grandchildren, Morgan Browning, William Stickle, Madison Browning, and Benjamin Stickle. She is also survived by her dear sister, Sandra (Sandi) Taylor and brother in-law, James Harris, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom brought her immense joy. She was predeceased by her brother, Irby Adcock, her sisters, Rose Adcock and Carolyn Harris and brother-in-law, Thomas Taylor.

Layne found joy in life's simple pleasures, a 5 o'clock highball with Jack, time spent with loved ones, and cheering on her grandchildren at their many sporting events. Known for her selfless nature, she had a gift for making people feel welcome and cared for. Whether she was reading a good book, watching the Hallmark Channel, or lighting up a room with her laughter, she brought joy and kindness wherever she went. Her presence was truly the heart of every celebration, and her infectious smile will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

"Be smart, be safe, make good choices, Love, Gaga."

Layne left a wonderful family legacy behind in addition to her nursing career. Her laughter was contagious. Her love of family and friends was genuine and heartfelt. I will miss her presence at family gatherings but hold her spirit close to heart
