Nancy Ann (Brown) Hall was ushered into the presence of her loving Heavenly Father on July 4, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. While the nation celebrated its independence from tyranny, Nancy celebrated independence from pain, heartache, and worldly cares.
Nancy was born on July 5, 1943 to Charles and Irene (Bird) Brown in the family home near Brownville, Iowa. She was educated in various one room schools in Mitchell County and graduated from Riceville High School in 1961. She also attended Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, Alberta, Canada for a short time.
She married the love of her life, Victor Hall at The Wayne Baptist Church in McIntire, Iowa on December 10, 1967. She helped out on the family farm west of McIntire and was a homemaker.
Nancy was raised in a strong Christian home and church was always an important cornerstone in her life. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior as a teen. She often played piano for church services, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
Nancy enjoyed singing and playing the piano and organ. Some of her favorite singers were Jim Reeves, Mark Lowry and Ernie Haase and Signature Sound. She enjoyed reading Christian novels, often choosing to read rather than watch TV. She was a dedicated letter writer, long after texts and emails became the common means of communication. If you were Nancy's friend, you were her friend for life.
Nancy enjoyed knitting and loved spending time with fellow knitters and crocheters in the Joy Givers Club. They gave of their talents to many, from preemies to military veterans.
Nancy is survived by her son Charles (Valerie) Hall of Columbus, Wisconsin; brother Paul (Karen) Brown of Osage, Iowa; sister-in-law Bonnie Avis of Caldwell, Idaho; close friend Nick Varga of Quiny, Illinois; niece Charmaine McKinney of Caldwell, Idaho, nephew Allyn Brown of Suffolk, Virginia, and many cousins.
Preceding Nancy in death are her parents, her beloved husband Victor, brother Elston, sister-in-law Joan, her grandparents, aunts and uncles.
Funeral services for Nancy will be held Wednesday July 9, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Schmelzer Funeral Home (401 East Main Street in Riceville, Iowa) with John Schindler officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will take place at the Wayne Cemetery in McIntire, Iowa.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jeffrey Nasstrom, St. Croix Hospice, and Brianna, Hannah, Arlen, and Robin from Apple Valley Assisted Living.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association or Easter Seals.
"Please don't grieve overly much for me. Don't focus on your personal loss but rejoice that I am no longer troubled with sickness or pain but enjoying the glory of Heaven. I will be there waiting to welcome each and every one of you when your time comes, so make sure you are living in the center of God's will, having accepted Christ as your personal Savior, so you will be able to join me in being with Him forever. Think of it, we will never have to be apart, ever again. I pray that God will comfort and take care of you when I am gone and that you will all be closer to each other than ever before through this experience. And sorrow not as those who have no hope but rejoice and look forward to our reunion. " - Nancy
