Nancy Lee (Fisher) Jackson, age 86, lifelong resident of Byron, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025 in Perry, Michigan, surrounded by her loving family.
Known for her unwavering love, kindness, and grace, Nancy was born on September 10, 1938, in Byron, Michigan, to Lyle and Lelah Mae (Palmer) Fisher. Nancy was a 1956 graduate of Byron Agricultural School. She married her high school sweetheart, Richard "Dick" Jackson, on October 12, 1957. Together, they built a life centered around love, family, and community, with Nancy as the cherished heart of her family-the best mother, wife, grandmother, daughter, sister, in-law, and friend. Nancy followed in the footsteps of her parents and sisters by working for Byron Area Schools until her retirement.
Nancy was a pianist at Byron United Methodist Church and lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star #248. She enjoyed cheering on her daughters in their many activities. She and Dick shared a love for travel in their retirement years, forming treasured friendships and giving of their time to help underprivileged children in Mexico while wintering in Texas. Nancy will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate to know her.
Nancy held a special bond with her sisters, Sally and Judy. The "seesters," as they affectionately called themselves, traveled far and wide on birding trips, creating memories filled with laughter and joy. Nancy looked forward to "ladies luncheons," where she enjoyed the interaction of friends and family. She also treasured the companionship of her Olive Branch dining friends: Doris, Nancy K., and Vivian.
Nancy's legacy lives on through her daughters: Christie (Ken) Stoops, Cindy Johnson, Cathy (Derald) Cramner, Connie (Joe) Barta, and Carrie (Dave) Conner; her beloved grandchildren: Brad (Brianne) Stoops, Brian (Kortney) Stoops, Jeff (Christina) Johnson, Kelley Johnson, Lindsay Cramner, Whitney (Ryan) Bailey, Josh (Courtney) Stoops, Jamie (Michael) DeLay, Jennie Brasier, Melanie (Matthew) Hall, and Marcus (Brittany) Morse; and her 20 treasured great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Sally Fisher; bonus sister, Marcia Peterson; sister-in-law, Joan Oliver; lifelong friends, Joe and Nancy Vince; special niece, Kim Snook; and many other extended family and friends.
Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard; her parents; her sister, Judy Snook; and sons-in-law Ron Johnson and Eric Bradish.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to HarmonyCares Hospice for their compassionate care, and to the loving staff of HomeJoy and Olive Branch/Divine Nest of Perry. Nancy held each of them close to her heart and considered them part of her extended family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 1:00pm at Watkins Brothers Funeral Home, Corunna Chapel, 302 West Corunna Ave., Corunna, MI 48817 with Rev. Tony Moore officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00am until the time of service. Interment will take place at a later date at Byron Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made "In honor of Carter Hall," Nancy's great-grandson, to Cystinosis Research Foundation, 19200 Von Karman Avenue, Suite 920, Irvine, CA 92612 (cystinosisresearch.org).
