Nancy Rae-Marie Kangas was born July 1st, 1956 to Melvin and Vivian Nelson. She was the youngest of four children. Nancy grew up on the Nelson family farm south of Arlington. She married Daryl Kangas December of 1972. The couple moved to Lake Norden to start their family.

Nancy loved the outdoors and all things of nature. She brought her children on many camping trips, spending most summer weekends at the lake. She had a passion for crafts that she shared with her daughters.

Nancy was very proud of her eight children and celebrated their accomplishments alongside them. She taught them compassion, independence and how to be strong. She saw the good in all and could start a conversation with anyone. A gift she passed onto a few of her children.

Nancy was also very proud of her nine grandchildren and loved to spend time with them. She enjoyed finding trinkets or projects of each child and grandchild's personal interest.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her seven surviving children; Heather (Jason), Shane, Thane (Amy), Annie-Rae (Bryce), Carrie, Christian (Ashley), and Logan (Johnna). Her nine grandchildren Gunnar, Connar, Ella, Zander, Sierra, Kagen, Booker, Storm, and Charlie. Her brother Gene (Beth), and sister Sarah (John). Many nieces and nephews.

Nancy is preceded in death by her son, Josh. Her parents, brother James, and two nephews.
