A funeral service for Natividad Olivas, 88, of Portales will be held at 9:00 A.M., Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Raul Ornelas officiating. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Luis Olivas, Aaron Flores, Martin Olivas, Joseph Olivas, Andrew Olivas, Juan Ceniceros, Carlos Ceniceros and Eugenio Navarrete, Jr. serving as pallbearers. Hipolito Espinosa will be an honorary pallbearer. Viewing will be from 8 AM to 8 PM on Tuesday and Wednesday at Wheeler Mortuary.

Natividad Olivas was born December 25, 1936, in Barrancos, Chihuahua, to the home of Angela (Sanchez) and Graciano Olivas, and died on the morning of July 27, 2025, in Albuquerque, NM. He married his wife Maria on March 18, 1962. He and his family moved to Portales, NM, in 1970. He worked with his family on the Jilek farm. He always had a huge garden for his grandchildren. In addition, he loved the outdoors and playing his guitar.

He is survived by his beloved wife Maria Olivas of 63 years of marriage, his two sons and daughters-in-law, Martin and Socorro Olivas of Levelland, TX, Luis and Teresa Olivas, his three daughters and sons-in-law, Albert and Grace Vargas of Portales, Omar and Julia Loya of Albuquerque, and Eugenio and Angela Navarrete of Odessa, TX. There are 19 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren; a brother Hipolito Espinosa of Portales, and a sister Baudelia Sanchez of Presidio, TX. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, his sisters, Luz, Manuela, and Emiteria Olivas, his brother Tomas Saiz, and his son, Natividad Olivas Jr.
