Nelda Hardin Armstrong of Owensville, Missouri passed away on July 3, 2025 at the age of 99 years. She was born on June 20, 1926 in Banner, Missouri the daughter of the late Benjamin and Lola (Nelson) Hardin.
In March of 1947 she was united in marriage to Clarence "Clay" Armstrong who preceded her in death in 1983. To this union two daughters were born: Barbara Larkins Holmes who preceded her in death and Terri Collins of Owensville, Missouri. Nelda is also survived by four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. One of her nieces, Donna, was very close to her and made it a point to speak with her every day.
Nelda is preceded in death by all of her siblings: Warren Hardin, Larios Hardin, Lyle Hardin, Mildred Hardin Jankie Frederick, and Lorene Frances Hardin Duncan Lovelace; her great grandson, Quenton; her great granddaughter, Brooklyn; and her son-in-law, Dennis Collins.
Nelda was very active her entire life. She worked as a "Rosie the Rivoter" in a St. Louis factory for the United States Navy during World War II. She later worked as a clerk for Butler Brothers in St. Louis. Nelda enjoyed traveling, dancing, and she participated in several bowling leagues. She was a member of Three Rivers Baptist Church. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. from Bryson Funeral Home with Pastor David Wright officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in Nelson Cemetery in Banner, Missouri. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.brysonfuneralhome.com.
