Noel Vega Obituary

Noel Vega, 68 of Old Bridge, New Jersey passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
Born Wednesday, April 10, 1957 in New York, New York, Noel was the son of the late Alfonso and Milagros Vega.
Noel was raised in Brooklyn, NY. After graduating from high school, Noel enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was stationed at Cherry point Air Station in North Carolina and would go on to receive many accolades and titles, including Lance Corporal, Private First Class, Plane Captain, Marine Transport Squadron, Aircraft Marshaller, and airframe systems mechanic for the B-1B program for the North American Aircraft Operations Rockwell International Corporation. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1984.
Noel met and married the love of his life, Germania 'Vicky' Vega in Brooklyn, NY. The couple spent time in North Carolina, California, and Brooklyn before settling in Old Bridge, NJ in 1996. During this time, Noel trained in airport security for the Port Authority of New York City before becoming a career train operator-conductor for the New York City MTA.
Noel was a handy-man, an artist in his own right and a versatile hobbyist. In his spare time, he built aviation models, metal figurines, woodworking puzzles, marble artisan pens, 3D printed trinkets and much more.
He loved thrift shopping and was an avid collector of coins, exotic bills, military memorabilia, films, toys, and cars, which he displayed proudly. He especially loved Star Trek, Star Wars, MASH, and his favorite baseball team, the New York Mets.
More than anything, Noel was a family man and proud to selflessly support his children, friends, family and neighbors in any way that he could. He always made sure his family was comfortable and happy, spending time doing all of the recreational things a loving father would do. He will be missed, immensely.
Noel was predeceased by his beloved wife, Germania, who passed away in 2021.
Noel is survived by his loving children, Richard Ivan Vega, Camille Victoria Vega, Isabelle Adelina Diaz and her husband Derick Diaz, and Neal Alan Vega, by his cherished grandchildren Lyra, Leon, and Luke Diaz, by his many siblings, and by his mother in law, Fanny Falquez.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey.
