Nona Marie Dailey peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 13, 2025.
Nona was born November 22, 1953, in Bellefonte, PA, a stone's throw from Penn State University. The third of five children to Laura Trigg Hodges and John Joseph Dailey, Jr., she enjoyed being the youngest child for seven years before her parents' second family appeared. Her siblings are all unique and have wonderful talents; and she wished she had garnered more of those talents.
Serving her church on various Catholic Diocese of Shreveport Committees and St. Joseph Catholic Church Finance Council, Nona was honored to be nominated and serve as a longtime member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem, a Papal order dating to the 1100s. She obtained the rank of Dame Grand Cross of the Holy Sepulcher.
A true labor of love was honoring her grandparents, AJ and Nona Trigg Hodges, through her service to their Foundation and Hodges Gardens. This support of Hodges Gardens continued as it pursued its current conservation mission.
Nona spent over 39 years in banking beginning with Commercial National Bank, and finishing her last 11 years with First National Bankers Bank.
Keeping her busy after retirement, where she was "living the dream," was the running community. Still waking up to meet her 5 am running group, Nona continued to enjoy her running friendships and other friends through her banking and cycling contacts.
Nona felt blessed with her friendships, especially during Covid and cancer, and she was fulfilled and grateful for everything and everyone in her life. Borrowing a quote from William Butler Yeats, "Think where man's glory most begins and ends, and say my glory was I had such friends." Her family and friends truly meant the most to her.
Nona was preceded in death by her parents Laura Trigg Hodges and John Joseph Dailey, Jr. She is survived by her siblings John Joseph Dailey, III, of Strongsville, OH, Virginia Dailey Colwell (Bill) of Springfield, VA, Laura Ann Dailey Edwards (Chris) of Lafayette and William Hodges Dailey (Daisy) of League City, TX. Also, six nephews and nieces and numerous great nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Honoring Nona as pallbearers are Ryan Bicknell, Dale Olsan, Dave Rech, Bailey Baynham, Jim Kowlaski, Richard Cox, Ray Morgan, Pat Nelson, Delbert Chumley, Rodney McKay, Bill Peatross, Chuck Allen, John Welborn and Al Childs.
Nona and her family are thankful to Dr. Scott Bonial at Christus Cancer Center, along with the nurses and associates at the Christus Cancer Treatment Center.
Donations can be made to the Msgr. Murray Clayton Tuition Endowment Fund, care of St Joseph Catholic School, 211 Atlantic Ave, Shreveport 71105; the Priest Retirement Fund, care of The Catholic Diocese of Shreveport, 3500 Fairfield Ave, Shreveport 71104; or a charity of the donor's choice.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00, at Osborn Funeral with a rosary at 6:30, on Thursday, July 17, 2025.
The Rite of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. with the The Most Reverend Francis Malone, Bishop of Shreveport, presiding.
