Leah ( Gina or GiGi ) Veser Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 18, 2025.
On August 26th, in Hartford Hospital, Gina (Barboza) Veser headed for heaven to spend the rest of eternity with her Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

After a 7-year, epic battle with breast cancer, she passed peacefully, with her husband at her bedside. Her final days were marked by repeated rallies that had her up in her hospital bed, being completely surrounded by her friends and family. Her intrepid spirit was noted by all involved, marveling at her relentless ability to hang on for one more day to encourage us all to know the lord.

For 36 years, Gina was the sole proprietress of GiGi's Native Produce in Enfield Connecticut. Throughout that time, she found tremendous joy in interacting with customers and friends in an encouraging and upbeat manner. She took great pride in providing the fresh and delectable items she sold, knowing she was contributing to the health and welfare of her customers and community.

Gigi was never shy about sharing the gospel at her place of business, hoping it would comfort and encourage those in need and lessen their daily burdens. She was always willing to offer advice to her beloved customers on how best to prepare her delicious products. Many of these customers became her friends who made visiting her stand a much anticipated and deeply cherished tradition of summer in New England.

Her stand was always adorned with beauty, color, and taste. Everywhere one looked, were flowers and lovely items on display. Her presentations were impeccable and thoughtful. Her positive and bubbly personality was felt throughout the day as she buzzed around her stand like a hummingbird with endless energy and purpose. What a sight it was to behold. She created a legacy of unrivaled caring, compassion, and commitment to her family, friends, and community. In addition to her business, Gina was active in her church family, in the farming community, and on the Enfield Police Steering Committee.

Gina was an honor student at Satellite High School located on the Florida space coast. She spent her last twelve years as a snowbird, traveling between Connecticut and Florida.

Gina is survived by her husband Ronald, daughter Oliva, son Michael (Veronica), four grandchildren (Gio, Mikey, Sean, and C.J.), six siblings, and a host of friends and business associates.

Autumn is upon us. She would love the colorful trees and the cool days. She would love us as well.

Gina and I became fast friends over 42 years ago. She was my best friend, my mentor, my sister in Christ. I know she is with Jesus now, loving her new, healthy body, and so full of joy, but I will miss her with all my heart until we are together again in heaven

There are no words to express how much I will miss you, dear Gina, but there are also no words to express the joy we will feel when we meet again. Hold a place for me. I´ll be there soon.
