Funeral Service for Mr. Norman David Messer, 73, of Opelika, will be Monday, December 9, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Chapel of Langley Funeral Home with Rev. Rusty Sowell officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 9, 2024 from 12:00 pm until service time at Langley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Tallapoosa County Memory Gardens.
Mr. Messer, who died December 7, 2024 in Opelika, was born December 18, 1950 and lived most of his life in Opelika, Alabama.
He is preceded in death by his adopted parents, Ernest and Loretha Messer. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lane Ingram Messer of Opelika, AL; daughter, Penny Messer of Opelika, AL; son, Kevin Messer of LaGrange, GA; two granddaughters, Desiree Messer and Willow Messer of Opelika, AL; two great granddaughters, Emily and Hazel; sister-in-law, Jane Ingram Jones of Atlanta, GA; nephew, Wesley Jones of Atlanta, GA; niece, Tracy Jones of Albany, GA; great nephew, Tyler Jones (Brittney) of Canton, GA; great great nephew, Oliver Jones; and many extended family friends. Mr. Messer served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war. Mr. Messer was employed at K Mart for 23 years where he retired in 1998.
