Opal Wilson Gonterman age 92 of Cub Run passed away at 7:05pm Sunday, July 6th at Signature Healthcare of Glasgow. She was the daughter of Floyd Thomas & Sophia Ann Thompson Wilson. She was married to Nelson Gonterman for 53 years until his passing in 2004.
She worked at General Electric for 23 years. She was a responsible pet owner who gave a home to many strays over her life-time. During her life-time, she supported the Red Cross by donating over 20 gallons of blood during the Cub Run community blood drives.
She was a caregiver to her brother, sisters, uncles, aunts and parents and without complaint.
She was an avid and passionate gardener who raised gardens and freely donated the produce to friends, relatives and the needy in the community.
In addition to her husband Nelson, she was preceded by a brother Tommy Wilson; her sisters Edith Avery, Julia Bratcher, Rena Denison & Alma Wilson; nieces Joanna Thompson Napper and Darlene Denison Cave and her nephews Waymon Denison & Terry Dean Denison.
Opal is survived by a special lifelong friend Denita Thompson; niece Marita Gonterman Richardson, nephews Marvin Ray Thompson, Darryl Thompson, Ron Gonterman, Tim Gonterman, Todd Gonterman & Gary Gonterman; special caregivers while she was a nursing home resident Lee Vaughn Thompson, Darryl & Mary Ellen Thompson, Ron & Joyce Gonterman and Denita Thompson.
The funeral service for Opal Wilson Gonterman will be held at 11am Thursday, July 10th in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Adkins officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2:30-8pm and after 8am Thursday at the Sego Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Cub Run Cemetery.
The family request that memorial contributions to be given to the Cub Run Cemetery fund or to Animal Rescue Kare, these donations may be left at the funeral home.
