LAKE PROVIDENCE, LA - Funeral services for Pamela Roxanna (McKenzie) Amacker, age 76 of Lake Providence, Louisiana will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at First Methodist Church in Lake Providence.
Reverend Henry R. Stone will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Lake Providence City Cemetery in Lake Providence.
A time of visitation will be held from 10 until time of service on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at First Methodist Church in Lake Providence.
Pamela McKenzie Amacker was born in Lake Providence, Louisiana on May 22, 1948. She passed into eternal life on April 9, 2025 at St. Francis Medical Center, Monroe, Louisiana. Pam is proceeded in death by her parents, Eloise Fletcher McKenzie and D.R. McKenzie.
Pam graduated from Lake Providence High School in 1966 and went on to get her degree in education from Louisiana Tech University. She was a fun and energetic teacher-Briarfield students of a certain age will never forget her "edible math" lesson. Sharing the joy of learning with her students was an important part of her life.
A love and devotion towards Jesus Christ, our Savior, characterized much of Pam's life. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Lake Providence. She taught Sunday School, serving for a time as Sunday School Superintendent; sang in the choir and played piano; and served Christ through many other activities with the church.
Whether it was having lunch at the Bakery Barn with her friends, spoiling her grandchildren on their visits, or going out on the lake with her family, Pam enjoyed surrounding herself with her loved ones. This March, she and Bobby celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary. But more than anything, Pam wanted to spend her time with her daughters and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Robert N. Amacker Jr.; her daughter, AnnaKatherine Amacker Wherren and her husband Dan, her daughter Elizabeth Muir Amacker; her three grandchildren Robert McKenzie Amacker, Willoughby Grey Wherren, and Wyeth Bruce Wherren; her brother Bubba McKenzie and his wife Mary Anne, her brother David McKenzie and his wife Susan, and her sister Bridget Leihr; as well as her nieces, nephews, and their children.
Pallbearers are: Bubba McKenzie, David McKenzie, Major Amacker, Dudley Keene, Raymond Harris, and Donny Meadows.
In Lieu of flowers, family request memorials be made to First Methodist Church of Lake Providence.
