Patricia "Patty" M. Bossard, age 69, of Albia, IA, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Kavanagh Hospice House in Des Moines, IA, surrounded by her loved ones.
Patty was born on September 28, 1955, at home in Albia to John J. and Velma Faye (McDonough) Jones. She grew up attending school in Albia. She was united in marriage to Steve Pottorff and to this union, a son, Steven "Mike", was born. Patty and Steve later divorced. Patty later married Steve Bossard and became a stepmother to the Bossard children.
Patty worked various jobs over the years, including Quiktron, B.P., Four Corners, and lastly retiring from Kness Manufacturing to take care of her family.
In her younger years, Patty was a talented guard on the basketball team, making it to State twice, along with her sister, Mary. She continued to be a sports fan and attended all of her son Mike's games. She also loved watching the Iowa Hawkeyes play. She enjoyed going out to eat and going to concerts in Osceola, often with her mother and sisters, Dorothy and Mary. Patty's family was everything to her and she cherished all the time spent with them.
Patty is survived by her son, Mike Pottorff; a brother, John W. (Norma Jean) Jones, a sister, Linda Sample; an aunt, Margy Craig; and an uncle, Bob (Nancy) Jones. Patty is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and good friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Steve Bossard; her parents, John and Velma Faye Jones; sisters, Margaret Preston, Dorothy Selix, and Mary Smith; and grandparents, David and Lucy McDonough and William and Kathryn Jones.
Per Patty's wishes, her body has been cremated and no formal services are planned at this time. A private family burial will be held at Service Chapel Cemetery in Albia at a later date.
