Norman Cutler Jr. Obituary
Norman (Norm) William Cutler, Jr. passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025 in The Villages, Florida.
Beloved husband to Mary A. Cutler of The Villages, FL. Loving father to his daughters, Michelle (Cutler) Smith (husband James) of Johns Island, SC and Suzanne Cutler of Cape Cod, MA. Proud Bampi to his granddaughter Alexis Smith. Dear Brother to Peter Cutler (wife Jane), Ann (Cutler) Corso, and sister-in-law Annmarie (Dillon) Connor (partner James Toole). He will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
He was predeceased by his parents Eileen Cecilia (Flaherty) Cutler and Norman W. Cutler Sr.; brother John Henry Cutler; and brothers-in-law Joseph Corso and Stephen Connor.
Norm graduated from Milton High School and he served honorably in The U.S. Army. His career began as an apprentice at the Fore River Shipyard and progressed through roles that showcased his engineering talent. At Draper Labs at M.I.T. he worked as a draftsman. He later joined Polaroid Corporation, where he advanced to Principal Mechanical Engineer. His expertise in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (G.D.&T.) earned him a place on the ANSI ASME Y14.5 committee. Norm served as Engineering Manager for Document Control at Sippican before transitioning into consultancy. He authored a book and taught courses through Worcester Polytechnic Institutes as President of Dimensional Management Inc.
Outside of work, Norm and Mary enjoyed traveling; especially ski vacations, summers on Cape Cod with family, and driving trips to historical landmarks. In his younger years, Norm enjoyed coaching his daughters' softball team, tending to his vegetable garden, playing softball with colleagues, sailing, skiing, and playing tennis with friends and family. In retirement he embraced golf, genealogy, and pickleball. Their love of golf inspired Norm and Mary to sign their granddaughter up for golf camp. Alexis fondly remembers going to golf tournaments with Bampi. Norm also enjoyed lively debates and talking about politics.
He had many cherished friendships throughout the years from growing up in Milton, raising his family in Braintree, and retiring to Cape Cod and The Villages, Florida.
