It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Patricia "Pat" MacDonald Hildebrandt, of Wayland, on October 4, 2024 at the age of 87.
Pat was born in Jamaica Plain, MA on November 3, 1936 to John R. and Anna (Ahern) MacDonald. She grew up in Malden and Medford, MA, graduating from Medford High School in 1954 where she met her husband of 65 years, Frederic Hildebrandt. Fred predeceased Pat by one day.
Earning a teaching degree from Boston State Teachers College followed by a Masters degree from Northeastern University, Pat was a lifelong learner who instilled a love of history and literature in her three daughters.
She is survived by Nancy (Hildebrandt) Warren of Rochester, NH, Jody (Hildebrandt) Marcoux and her husband Paul Marcoux of Sudbury, MA, and Betsy Hildebrandt and her husband Kevin Varney of Washington, DC. Pat has six grandchildren, Kristen and Matthew Warren (and wife, Danielle), Charlotte and David Marcoux, and Julia and John Varney (deceased).
Pat raised her family in Andover, MA, with summers spent in Mattapoisett, MA. She and Fred enjoyed a wonderful retirement in Falmouth, MA, full of swimming, boating, travel and genealogy.
In honor of their wishes, the family will have a private celebration of Pat and Fred's lives at the Dee Funeral Home of Concord, MA, followed by a burial at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford, MA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Pat's memory may be made to Nashoba Learning Group and Mid-Atlantic Make-A-Wish.
Arrangements are entrusted to Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
