Patricia Evans Martin died on Wednesday, July 9 at The Carriage House Assisted Living in Denton, TX. She was 88.
Pat was born on January 13, 1937, in Harrisburg, PA. She was the daughter of the late Edwin Gentzler Evans and Esther Stouffer Evans. She grew up in Harrisburg, PA and after getting married moved to Brevard, NC and raised her children there. After spending some time in Asheville, NC, she then moved to Texas in 2003 to be near her daughter and grandchildren.
Pat always put her family first. She was an incredible mother and loved her grandchildren with all her heart. Her happiest moments were spending quality time with her family. She was also active at the First Christian Church of Denton, singing in the choir, serving on the worship committee and arranging the altar flowers each week. She especially enjoyed taking flowers to the homebound and people in the hospital each Sunday after church. At the Carriage House Assisted Living, she also provided flowers for the dining room tables.
Those left to cherish his memory are, daughter, Pamela Marshall and husband Hal, daughter, Kimberli Cortez and husband Ruben, sister, Mary Beth Evans, and four grandchildren, Sophia and Victoria Marshall and Joshua and Gabriel Cortez. She was preceded by her sister, Elaine Evans Creigh.
Her celebration of life will be held at the First Christian Church in Denton, TX on Saturday, August 2 at 12 noon with Pastor Kristin Galle officiating. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service with lunch provided.
Flowers may be sent to the church for the service or memorials may be given to the worship fund at First Christian Church of Denton, 1203 Fulton St, Denton, TX 76201.
