Patricia Van Horn Obituary

Patricia L. (Baer) Van Horn, 73, of Gahanna, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus.

Pat was born in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania on April 24, 1952, to the late Harold F. and M. Jean (Wilt) Baer. On November 5, 1983, in their family home in Jackson Center, she married Mark S. Van Horn, and he preceded her in death on October 27, 2021. Pat was also preceded in death by an infant son, Steven Baer Van Horn; and step-grandson, Bryant C. Newman.

Pat is survived by her sons, Kyle (Amy) Van Horn, and Blair Van Horn; stepdaughters, Lori (Jeff Stockton) Newman, and Dr. Shauna (Keith) Mazique; grandson, Keegan Van Horn; step grandchildren, Darby (Ben) Nicely, Laryn (Travis Copeland) Newman, Ja’leese (CJ Upton) Castro, Isaac (Taylor) Newman, Bralen Mazique, Lovie Mazique, and Hayes Mazique; step-great grandchildren, Lincoln Newman, Eleanor Newman, Liam Nicely, Theo Nicely, and one on the way; siblings, Barbara (Frank) Hanzlik, Sandra Marinics, Harold “Butch” (Karen) Baer, and Lisa (Russ) Phillips; and several nephews and a niece.

Pat taught elementary school in the Indian Lake School District for over 30 years. After retiring, she and Mark moved to Columbus, where they formed close friendships, especially through their “Dinner Club.” A dedicated Yankees fan and talented cook, Pat enjoyed sharing meals with her family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Pat’s wish was to be cremated, and services will be held privately by her family.

In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial contributions in recognition of Pat’s dedication to the education of Logan County students. Donations can be directed to the Logan County Educational Foundation, 1973 St. Rt. 47 West, Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311, or online at www.lcedfd.org.
