Patrick James Haley, aged 82, of Red Wing, Minnesota (formerly of Lakeville, Minnesota) was surrounded by family when he passed away at home on Monday October 21, 2024. Pat, as he was known, was born in Minneapolis on March 11, 1942. He was the second child of eight sons and one daughter born to Charles and Helen (nee Watson) Haley. Pat lived in Minneapolis, Mankato, and Red Wing for a short few years before his parents moved and the family made their life in International Falls, Minnesota. They moved once more, to Braham, Minnesota, where Pat attended high school and graduated in 1960 from Braham High School. Upon graduating from high school, Pat went to live with his great aunt Sarah and attend Boise Junior College in Idaho. After completing junior college, Pat returned home to Minnesota. He attended the University of Minnesota and worked at Univac, where he met his wife Sharon Jean Estes.
On June 26, 1964, Pat and Sharon were married at Lake Nokomis Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. In 1966, Pat received his Bachelor's of Science degree in Agricultural Business Administration from the U of M. Pat enjoyed a career in the printed circuit board industry, working in sales, sales management, and manufacturing management. Over the next twenty years, Pat and Sharon lived in the south metro area with their growing family. In 1986, the family built a home on their farm property in Lakeville, and they remained there until 2022. When Pat retired in 2000, he started Prairie Lake Farm, and for the next twenty-two years, he oversaw the breeding and fiber production of llamas and angora goats (mohair).
Pat volunteered as a parent coach for both daughter Terry's and son Scott's youth sports teams. As a grandfather and great-grandfather, Pat was known as Papa Pat. Papa could always be counted on to support and often attend the sporting events and activities of his four granddaughters. As a church member (since 1978) of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Burnsville, Pat was involved in a variety of service activities.
