Patrick James Haley, aged 82, of Red Wing, Minnesota (formerly of
Lakeville, Minnesota) was surrounded by family when he passed away at home on Monday October 21, 2024. Pat, as he was known, was born in Minneapolis on March 11, 1942. He was the second child of eight sons and one daughter born to Charles and Helen (nee Watson) Haley. Pat lived in Minneapolis, Mankato, and Red Wing for a short few years before his parents moved and the family made their life in International Falls, Minnesota.They moved once more, to Braham, Minnesota, where Pat attended high school and graduated in 1960 from Braham High School. Upon graduating from high school, Pat went to live with his great aunt Sarah and attend Boise Junior College in Idaho. After completing junior college, Pat returned home to Minnesota. He attended the University of Minnesota and worked at Univac, where he met his wife Sharon Jean Estes.
On June 26, 1964, Pat and Sharon were married at Lake Nokomis Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. In 1966, Pat received his Bachelor's of Science degree in Agricultural Business Administration from the U of M. Pat enjoyed a career in the printed circuit board industry, working in sales, sales management, and manufacturing management. Over the next twenty years, Pat and Sharon lived in the south metro area with their growing family. In 1986, the family built a home on their farm property in Lakeville, and they remained there until 2022. When Pat retired in 2000, he started Prairie Lake Farm, and for the next twenty-two years, he oversaw the breeding and fiber production of llamas and angora goats (mohair).
Pat volunteered as a parent coach for both daughter Terry's and son Scott's youth sports teams. As a grandfather and great-grandfather, Pat was known as Papa Pat. Papa could always be counted on to support and often attend the sporting events and activities of his four granddaughters. As a church member (since 1978) of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Burnsville, Pat was involved in a variety of service activities.
Pat is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Tommy, Danny, Jimmy, and Teddy. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Sharon; two children Terry Haley, and Scott (Colleen) Haley; four grandchildren: Haley (Tommy) Rogers, Jenna (Mario) Colosimo, Paige (Eric) Carter, and Reagan (Ashleigh) Haley; four great-grandchildren: MJ, Henry, Lucy, and Caleb. Additionally, Pat is survived by brothers Terry (LeAnn) Haley, Michael Haley, Kevin Haley, sister Kitty Haley, along with other family and friends.
The memorial visitation is on Thursday, November 14, 2024 from 5-7 PM at White Funeral Home 20134 Kenwood Trail,
Lakeville, Minnesota. A Celebration of Life with a visitation one hour prior to the 1PM service is on Friday, November 15, 2025 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church 13801 Fairview Drive
Burnsville, Minnesota. Private interment at Oakwood Cemetery in Red Wing at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to cancer research at Rochester Mayo Clinic (855-852-8129), in appreciation of the staff who cared for Pat.
