Patsy Lee Barnes passed away on July 2, 2025, at her residence in Ludington, Michigan. She was born to Leslie and Mildred (Osburn) Johnston in McBride, Michigan, on August 3, 1937.
On August 24, 1954, Patsy married Jack Barnes in Stanton, Michigan. Following Jack's service, the couple purchased a farm in Crystal Township, Michigan. Together, they were blessed with three daughters: Kay, Donna, and Peggy.
Surviving Patsy are her children Kay (Fred) Hargett, Donna (Brad) Shinabarger, and Peggy (Stevan) Hartman; grandchildren, Nickolas (Danielle) Hargett of Ludington, Devon (Will) Rencher of Comstock Park, (Emily) Hargett of Rochester, Jared Becher of Crystal, Jenny (Andy) Bills of Stanton, Dustin (Jessica) Shinabarger of Cystal, Walter (Erica) Hartman of Lansing; and Chad Hartman of Mulliken. As well as 13 great-grandchildren, who she always referred to as her little angels, Sofia, Sanaya, Skylar, Olive, Andrew Jack, Braylon, Marleigh, Caleb, Carter, Camden, Caden, Calihan, and Catie; siblings Barb Hastings and Jerry (Vonnie) Johnston; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike (Carol) Barnes, Robert (Patsy) Barnes, Janet Bidwell, and John Krantz.
Patsy was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her siblings: Russel Johnston, Neva Hadley, Dale Johnston, and Janet Knowles. In addition, she was predeceased by her grandsons, Josh and Drew Hargett, and her son-in-law Bob Becher.
Patsy and Jack appreciated travel, camping, mushroom foraging, hunting, and particularly valued their fishing excursions to Alaska and Canada. She also preferred spending winters in Florida and visiting her sister in Colorado.
Never afraid to try new things, she always encouraged her daughters to do the same. She owned Pat's Ceramic Shop in Carson City for a few years teaching painting classes and enjoyed helping others get creative.
She was a member of Mt Hope United Brethren Church in Carson City and valued the community and friendships there.
Following Jack's passing, Patsy relocated to Village Manor in Ludington, where she participated in activities such as puzzles, bingo, and socializing with friends, including her bestie Marie. She remained active in travel, taking a cruise as recently as last December. In 2024, she earned recognition as a puzzle champion in Ludington, sharing the title with Remos and Julie Lenio.
She loved her weekly hair and nail appointments at Hart Salon with Sharon and Megan-thank you both for brightening her day!
We wish to extend our sincere appreciation to the staff and friends she made at Village Manor of Ludington, and to Nickolas, Dani, Olive, and Andrew Jack for their instrumental support in enabling her to continue residing in her apartment.
We will all miss Mom, but this is not goodbye-just "see you later."
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 6-8pm at Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home, Crystal. Funeral Service is scheduled for Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 1pm, at the funeral home. Following, Patsy will be laid to rest beside her husband in Crystal Cemetery.
