BARRE TOWN - Paul "Butch" McLaughlin, 69, of Barre Town, VT, passed away on June 22, 2025, after a fierce battle with brain cancer. He was born in Bennington, VT, on July 6, 1955, to Edward and Louise (Baker) McLaughlin.
Butch graduated from Spaulding High School in 1973 before moving to California to work in the oil fields. He eventually returned home where he worked as a lineman for many years. The last ten for Burlington Electric. In 1988, he met a girl "Brenda" from NH at Bear Mtn. Lodge that would change his life forever. Together they spent many years at their Camp "High Lonesome" in Ferdinand, VT, where they would hunt, fish, and snowmobile. They would marry on June 30, 1990. His favorite thing to do was ride his Harley "Candy", where he had many wonderful adventures riding from the mountains to the seashores.
He was a member of the VFW Post 790, the American Legion Post 10, and the Canadian Club.
Butch is survived by his wife Brenda (Bourque) McLaughlin who promises to find him, a sister Anne Dyment, and nieces Colleen and Faith. He is predeceased by his parents and brother John "Mickey" McLaughlin.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. As Butch would say "Victory Lane".
Arrangements are in the care of Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer St. in Barre.
