Paul LaVerne Walsh, aged 93, passed away at home on November 5, 2024, in Portsmouth, RI. Born on October 27, 1931 to Richard and Edna Walsh, in Elmira, NY, Paul attended Southside High School, class of 1949. He served honorably in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1954, dedicating three years to his country during a pivotal time in history. Following his military service, Paul embarked on a successful career as an electronic engineer at Corning Glass Works (Corning Inc), where he made significant contributions until his retirement. His professional life was marked by a deep commitment to innovation and excellence, and included being awarded several patents.

Paul was a man of many interests, including being an avid reader, building models, and woodworking. He also enjoyed learning more about, and making three trips back to Hawaii, to which he felt deeply connected after being stationed there.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Vinona (Hackett) Walsh; children Shawn Walsh (Karen) and Doreen Sackett (Tom); grandchildren Ryan, Hannah, Spencer, Koa and Thor Walsh, Jennifer Turner, Jason and Amy Sackett; several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and his brothers, John and James (Charlene) Walsh. He was preceded in death by his daughters Kelly Walsh and Pamela Bailey, and several siblings.

Paul's life was one of service, commitment, and love for his family and community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
