PETERSTOWN, WV - Paul Widdoes, age 77, passed away peacefully at his home on January 11, 2025. Born January 18, 1947, at home in Wyoming county, WV, he was the son of the late Paul Everett Widdoes and Ruth Trump Widdoes.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a Godly man who was dedicated to his faith and his church. He was a member of the Glen Lyn Church of Christ where he sang in the choir and loved it so.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served during Vietnam as a Chaplain Assistant.
He loved football and was an alumnus of Peterstown High School, where he played. He loved watching his Mountaineers football and basketball and Yankees baseball. His last 27 years of employment was with Celanese, where he retired from in which part of that time he was employed there by Duke Power.
He is survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Sandra Widdoes; sons, Eric Widdoes (Dana) of Peterstown and Chris Widdoes of Ohio; stepsons, Steven Lester (Makayla) of Peterstown and Michael Lester (Rachael) of Rich Creek, VA; sister, Lydia Meredith of Smithfield, VA; brother, Tommy Widdoes of Peterstown; grandchildren, who he loved with all his heart, Chloe and Noah Widdoes, Ellie and Amelia Lester, and Kade, Keaton, and Dax Lester; and three nieces, seven great nieces, and five great nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, WV, with Minister Dan Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at the Peterstown Cemetery in Rich Creek, VA. Visitation will be held from 12:00PM until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home.
