Paula DeSpain Obituary

Paula Marie DeSpain was born January 22, 1962, to Paul Delbert Ramsey and Edith Carol Sibert (Sprouse). Paula passed from this life on June 7, 2025, at the age of 63, after a brief – but fierce – battle with cancer. She was a woman of many talents and endless determination, a true "jack of all trades," who touched the lives of everyone she met.
Paula was born in DeSoto, Missouri, and settled in Oregon for many years. Paula moved to Oklahoma in 2001, where she built a vibrant life surrounded by her family and community. She briefly relocated to Colorado from 2020 to 2021, before returning to the place she called home. Paula was active in her church, where her faith and kindness resonated deeply with those around her.
Paula had a zest for life and enjoyed fishing, kayaking, shopping, and playing games with her family. Her resourcefulness was unmatched; she could fix nearly anything, drove a school bus at one point, ran her own housekeeping business for years, and worked as a secretary. Most recently, she was DoorDashing – all of this to say she was a hustler (the good kind) who could never be accused of being lazy.
Paula's sassy personality and sharp sense of humor remained undimmed, even during her final days. Paula kept her family smiling and was cracking jokes with her brother mere hours before her passing. Her resilience and spirit were a testament to her character, bringing light to even the darkest moments.
Paula will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her impact on those around her will live on in the memories and hearts of the people she cherished, and who cherished her in return.
Paula leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, survived by her three daughters, Kelly Phillips, Jacquie West, and Marquie Tucker, two sons-in-law, Shawn Phillips and Ryan Tucker, and five grandchildren, Addison, Alex, Natili, Mia, and Nora, who she adored wholeheartedly. She is also survived by her sister, Bonnie Ayers, and her brother, Eugene Ramsey.
Paula was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Delbert Ramsey and Edith Carol Sibert.
A memorial service to honor the life of Paula is set to begin at 2:00 P.M., Friday, June 27, 2025, at Apostolic Worship Center in Norman, Oklahoma.
