Pauline (Polly) Jane Beatty (McNeill) of Homewood Addition, Mannington, age 97, born March 17, 1928 in Morgantown, West Virginia, a daughter to the late Sehon and Bonnie McNeill (Hall) of Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2025 while residing at Harmony Assisted Living facility in Morgantown, as a result of failing health and medical issues under hospice care.
Pauline married James P. Beatty (Jim) in November 1946 in Essex County, Maryland. They were married for 62 years before his passing in 2008.
Pauline attended Farmington High School and graduated from Mannington High School in 1946. Pauline worked for a short time at Westinghouse in Fairmont as a laborer on the light bulb manufacturing line. Pauline was a longstanding active member of the First United Methodist Church on Clarksburg Street in Mannington. While at First United Methodist Church she participated and was active with women's groups and Sunday School, helping with children's programs and vacation bible school. She was active in helping cook and serve church dinners and annual pie baking in preparation for the Mannington District Fair and concession fundraiser each year. In recent years she began attending the Mannington Church of the Nazarene.
She relocated for a short time from Mannington, West Virginia to Mobley, West Virginia to follow her husband James because of a career promotion while he was employed for Equitable Gas as a supervisor at the natural gas compressor station in Mobley. While residing in Mobley she became an active member of the Mobley Homemakers. Pauline and James returned to Mannington, WV upon his retirement. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband James (Jim) Beatty.
She is survived by her daughter Deborah Walker (Beatty) of Mentor, OH, (who was predeceased by her husband John Walker.) a Grandson Doug McLain (Michelle) of Madison, Wisconsin, and two great grandchildren, Lachlan and Ainsley McLain.
She is survived by her daughter Nancy Johnson (Beatty) of Jackson, MO, (who was predeceased by her husband Paul Johnson), a granddaughter Joy Johnson of Jackson, MO, and great grandchildren Nathaniel Johnson, Zachary Johnson, Joshua OKelly, and Elijah Okelly (deceased), and a Grandson Josiah Johnson (Ashley) of Grain Valley, MO.
She is survived by her son James Jeffrey Beatty (Ava) of Morgantown, WV. Grandson Joshua Beatty (Kayla) of Tampa, FL and one great grandchild Elias Beatty.
Pauline is survived by one sibling, sister Mary Ann Urdiales (McNeill) of O'Fallon, MO., (who was predeceased by her husband Adolph Urdiales). Also surviving is her niece Judi Rogers (Urdiales).
The remainder of Pauline's siblings and respective spouses preceded her in death. Samuel Charles McNeill (Betty Sue) formerly Akron, OH having surviving nieces and nephews Betty, Lawrence, Christopher, William and Gwendolyn, sister Betty Lee Miller (McNeill) and husband James (Jim), formerly of Kingwood, West Virginia having surviving nieces and nephews of James, Richard, and Glenna.
Pauline enjoyed reading, cooking and baking, taking care of her flowers and watching and tending to her hummingbirds. She occupied her time reading and researching topics and articles on the internet using her computer. She was very active networking and keeping in touch with people and events through Facebook and Facebook Messenger. Her favorite past time was spending time on her porch and sitting in her swing during the summers.
Friends may be received at the Hutson Funeral Home, 500 E Main Street, Mannington on Sunday, June 22, 2025, from 2-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday at the Church of the Nazarene, 31 Nazarene Lane, Mannington at 12 p.m. with Pastors Jerry Bush and Charles "Chuck" Legg officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband James Beatty at the Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery. Condolences may be left at www.hutsonfuneralhomes.com.
