Mrs. Peggy Halliburton age 85 of the Buffalo Community departed this life peacefully at 2:52 a.m. Friday morning September 26, 2025 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center E.R. where she was admitted Friday evening at 10:11 p.m.
Funeral services from the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home will be conducted on Sunday afternoon September 28th at 3 p.m. with Bro. Jeff Burton officiating. Interment will follow beside her husband in the Hudson Family Cemetery in the Salt Lick Community.
The Halliburton family will receive friends at Sanderson in Kempville only on Sunday September 28th from 10 a.m. until the 3 p.m. services.
Born Peggy June Hudson in the Little Salt Lick Community on March 1, 1940, she was one of seven children, five daughters and two sons of the late John Henry Hudson who died at the age of 60 on February 3, 1977 at his Little Salt Lick Community farm from a massive heart attack, and Georgia Bethel Sircy Hudson who died at the age of 89 on June 8, 2006.
Mrs. Halliburton was the fourth of the seven children to die. An oldest child, a sister, Sue Carol Hudson Woods preceded her in death on August 25, 2021 at the age of 85, two brothers, Jerry Dale Hudson who died on March 21, 2020 at the age of 82 and Billy James Hudson who died September 15, 2022 at the age of 83.
Mrs. Halliburton was a 1958 graduate of Smith County High School where she majored in home economics. In home economics she was a recipient of the Junior and Senior Chapter degrees, was a Future Homemakers of America class officer her sophomore year and was a member of the Latin club for two years.
It was stated in the "58 annual; "Nature has given us two ears, but only one mouth".
She was a member of the Christian Community Fellowship Church in the Kempville Community.
She was best known as a long-time office assistant to the late Dr. Robert Wright at his Hospital Drive dentist office in Carthage.
On February 10, 1962 she was united in marriage to Buffalo Community native, Gerald Royce Halliburton who preceded her in death on March 20, 2020 at the age of 83.
A most important thing in her life was her grandson and his wife and her three great-grandchildren.
She had a beautiful voice and she and her four sisters often sang at funerals.
Surviving is her son, Stacey Halliburton and wife Jeanene Kennedy Halliburton; grandson, Dr. John Wesley Halliburton and wife Samantha and their three children, Sebastian, Abigail, and Jeremiah James, all of the Buffalo Community; three sisters, Judy Hudson Hackett and husband Dennis of the Gladdice Community, Lena Hudson McKinney and husband Tommy of the Tanglewood Community, Keitha Hudson Webb and husband Jim of Carthage; sister-in-law, Frances Dycus Hudson of Red Boiling Springs.
The Halliburton family requests memorials to the Hudson Family Cemetery Mowing Fund.
