Mrs. Peggy L. Smith, 74, of Bimble, passed away Friday morning, July 25, 2025 at her home. She was the daughter of the late John and Gladys Collier Pruter born June 13, 1951 in Harvard, IL.
Peggy was a retired seamstress with Warner's and nurse's aid at Baptist Health Corbin. She took pride in caring for others and would often befriend her patients as well as her coworkers. She enjoyed family cookouts and the time they were able to spend together, especially with her grandchildren. Peggy was an avid shopper and enjoyed going to several stores, including the vendors mall, Belk and J.C. Penney just to name a few of her favorites. In her spare time she could be found watching the Home and Garden Network, her favorite soap operas or a game show. She was also a devoted member of the Turkey Creek Baptist Church.
On March 19, 1971, she united in marriage with Jerry Wayne Smith in Harvard, IL.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a cherished daughter, Laura Trent-Thompson; sisters, Margie Dundee, Phyllis Farr and Patricia Costal; brother, Jimmy Pruter and an infant sibling.
Survivors include her loving husband, Jerry Wayne Smith of Bimble; children, Terry Wayne Smith and wife, Stephanie, of Bimble and Brandon Dewayne Smith and wife, Christina, of Barbourville; sister, Donna Soucie of New Smyrna Beach, FL; cherished grandchildren, Brittany Trent, Candace Riley and husband, Tyler, Tyler Smith, Peyton Smith and fiancé, Tucker Smith, Connor Smith, Jacob Smith, Laura Beth Smith and Tori Smith; great-grandchildren, Dawson Hubbard and Audri Riley; several close friends; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted at the Turkey Creek Baptist Church Sunday, July 27 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Lonnie Collett officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be her family and friends.
Friends may visit at the church Sunday after 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.
