I had known Pete for some over 30 years and always enjoyed talking to him at the track or baseball or softball games. He loved his family, his work and never had a bad thing to say about anyone. My condolences to his family that Pete is gone far too soon

I´ve known Pete since I first filled in for him at Rosecroft in 2017. When I was in the process of looking for a broadcasting job in the aftermath of the pandemic, Pete informed me of an open position at Shenandoah Downs and asked if he could pass along my information. I obliged, and he helped me secure the job with the assist from Edison Hatter. I´m going into my fifth year as the Track Announcer there and it´s all thanks to Pete, a man who looks out for everyone he works with wether they´re seasoned vets or kids looking for their big break. Pete, you gave me my wings and now you have yours. Say hi to Brower for me at the racetrack Upstairs! We´ll miss you.

I´ve had the great fortune to know Pete for many years. Occasionally, we´d meet for lunch and spend a few hours catching up. Due to our busy travel schedules, we´d mostly text back and forth. Or engage on Twitter. I do not recall ever having an especially profound conversation. We mostly talked about life, families (he adored Ryan, Cody & Kelly), radio & TV broadcast shop talk, traffic tie-ups and speed trap warnings if one of us was driving a route the other had driven, current events, sports (naturally), and Navy sports (it goes without saying). It was always a treat to share thoughts on just about any topic. Pete´s brain tumor diagnosis was a gut punch because I survived brain tumor surgery and treatment several years ago. I knew exactly what he was going through. It is scary. I spent some time with him in the hospital after his surgery offering support, thoughts and prayers. I am glad Brenda and the kids were with him at the end. I will miss him terribly.

Pistol Pete walking around the hallways of Southern with anything paper he was holding rolled up as a pretend mic. He was always broadcasting and always kind. What a good guy.
Prayers for the family. He was a big personality.
