Obituary of Peter Nathan Meyer
Peter Nathan Meyer, age 55, of Bloomington, Minnesota, passed away on January 19, 2025.
Peter was born April 26, 1969, in Minneapolis and was the first born to Marvin and Diane Meyer.
Peter attended elementary, middle, and high school in Richfield, MN, where he graduated in 1987. He initially furthered his education at the University of Minnesota Duluth before transferring to the University of Minnesota Institute of Technology. He graduated in 1995 with a bachelor's degree in computer science. He enjoyed working as a dedicated computer coder for many years.
Peter loved being in the great outdoors and enjoyed many trips to the Boundary Waters with friends camping, canoeing, and hiking. Deer hunting was another passion that he looked forward to each season. He also enjoyed biking and taking time to read a variety of book genres but especially enjoyed science fiction. Peter was known as a fun uncle and was always up for a long game of Risk, Monopoly or Spoons with his niece and nephews.
Peter is survived by his parents Marv and Diane, brother Matthew (Lydia), sister Kristen Gerke (Jay), his 6 nephews and one niece, Ryan, David, Susanna, Mason (Abby), Justin, Owen and Quinn, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Peter's childhood and lifelong friends Brent, Darrell and Bob for their friendship over the many years.
Peter is preceded in death by his grandparents and his beloved pet parrot of nearly 40 years, Chomper.
A Celebration of Peter's Life will be held on Saturday June 7, 2025 from 1-4 at the Cremation Society of MN, 7110 France Ave So, Edina Mn. A burial with family will take place at a later date in Wisconsin.
