Petra Hardin Obituary

Petra Loehr Hardin was born on March 4, 1959 to her parents Karl Emil Loehr and Elsbeth Irma Hedwig (Krause) Loehr in Weilburg, Hessen, Germany. She was Baptized on April 26, 1959, at Heiliggrab Kapelle (Holy Sepulcher [Jesus' Grave] Chapel) by Pastor Dietz, and was Confirmed on May 14, 1972 at the Schloss Kirche, (the Castle Church) in Weilburg, Hessen Germany by Pastor Piesoldt. Petra married Kenneth Hardin at Mill Creek Baptist Church in Salem, Indiana, on March 18, 1978, with Pastor Wayne Lee officiating.

While going to college Petra worked fulltime for the State of Texas, first as a food stamp worker in El Paso, and then later for the Aging and Disability Department in Temple. Following her career with the State of Texas, she worked for Girling Home Health for another 8 years.

Petra was preceded in death by her father Karl Loehr; by her sister Veronika Gentzen; and by her brother-in-law Ronald Schlecht.

She is survived by her husband Ken Hardin; their children, Jessica and Andy Delia, Steven Hardin, and Ann and Ryan Kurpess; by their granddaughter Isis Swafford; by their step grandson Drew Delia; by her mother Elsbeth (Krause) Loehr; by her brother Gerd and Noy Loehr; by her sister Bettina Schlecht; and by her brother-in-law Ruediger Gentzen; and by countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Petra Loerh Hardin lived on this earth, now through faith in Jesus Christ alone she lives for all eternity with Him in heaven.

A funeral service will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in The Grove on Friday, August 15,2025 at 10:00 AM with visitation one hour prior to service with Pastor John Heckmann officiating.
