Phyllis J. Bade, 94, of Varna, Illinois, died on March 6, 2025 at Lacon Rehab and Nursing in Lacon, Illinois. Born at St. Margaret's Hospital in Spring Valley, Illinois on December 22, 1930 to the late Leonard and Pearl (Johnston) King, she married Ruben Bade on September 2, 1953 in Varna. Ruben died on September 1, 2005. Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Linda (William) Klein of Lacon, Ron Bade of Varna, Karen (Brian Sarver) Duffy of LaSalle, Tom (Cheryl) Bade of Valley Center, Kansas, sisters Allye Parks, Melody Kincaid, Debbie (Dave Campbell) King, Pat (Dave) Edwards, brother Jim (Gladys) King and sister in law Cleone King and brother in law Jack Kraft, 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Sandy Kraft, Betty Cimei and brothers Ben and Bill King. After Phyllis graduated from John Swaney High School, she went to work at Westclox in LaSalle. Later working over 25 years at Hobbs auto parts factory in Spring Valley. Phyllis loved her Cardinals, both the feathered and the STL Cardinals. She enjoyed watching both. In the spring, she could be found working in her beautiful flower gardens. She was also an expert cross-stitcher, creating many beautiful items over the years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral service for Phyllis will be held Tuesday, March 11 at Saint Paul's Lutheran Church in Varna at 11 a.m. with a visitation held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Saint Paul's Lutheran Cemetery and memorials can be made to the Varna Ambulance Service or her church.
