Pjeter Gecaj Obituary

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Pjeter Gecaj, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather. Pjeter passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and humility.

Born on December 16, 1942, in Kosovo, Pjeter built a life rooted in family, faith, and tradition. In 1973, he immigrated to the United States and made his home in Hamden, Connecticut, where he raised his family alongside his beloved wife of 59 years, Dila Gecaj.

Pjeter was a man of quiet strength and unwavering faith. He took immense pride in his Albanian heritage and was a pillar of support within his community. His life was marked by humility, hard work, and a deep commitment to the well-being of his family. Above all, Pjeter wanted nothing more than to see his children thrive and be happy.

He is survived by his loving wife Dila; his four children, Valbona, Ilir, Margarita, and Arbnora; three siblings, Preka, Martin, and Teuta; fourteen grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit lives on through the many lives he touched.

Pjeter's legacy is one of love, resilience, and community. May he rest in eternal peace.
Visitation will take place Thursday, 10/23 at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06851 from 2pm to 9pm. A Funeral Service will take place the following day, Friday 10/24 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Norwalk, beginning at 11am with interment following directly after at St. John Cemetery.
