Apolonia (Pola) Sanchez Montoya, 88 of Van Horn Tx. Passed away on May 30 in Van Horn Texas.
Pola was born in Pilares Mexico, she was born to Julio and Francisca Sanchez on April 10, 1937. Pola married Ramon Montoya in 1962. Pola was a woman of many trades. She loved baking, cooking, making crafts and healing balms with herbs, and she had a true passion for gardening. Her yard was always a stunning oasis that welcomed everyone. She thoroughly enjoyed receiving company and catching up with loved ones over the phone. She always cherished the time spent with visitors and loved ones. It always brought immense joy to reconnect with her and her loved ones. She dedicated many years of service to her church community and also worked at ranches and at the local daycare. Demonstrating her extraordinary commitment to helping others. She had a remarkable spirit welcoming everyone into her home. Up until Mother’s Day she was still pursuing her passion for embroidery and continued to find joy in the things she loved until her final days. No one ever came to her house without being offered a meal. She was renowned for her exceptional hospitality, always willing to care for others and offer valuable advice on medicine and food recipes & just life in general. She stepped in to provide love and support to her nieces and nephews when they needed it most, filling in as a Mother figure.
Pola was preceded in death by her son Johnny Montoya, husband, Ramon G Montoya, husband Manuel Segura, great granddaughter Rosemary Esperanza Montoya and many adored siblings.
Pola is survived by her children: Olivia Guzman, Edward Montoya and wife Ana Laura Montoya, and Ramon Humberto Montoya. Her grandchildren: Amanda Lynn Guzman, Fermin Baeza, Jennifer Ann Guzman, Josiah John Montoya, Ethan Edward Montoya, Christian Rey Montoya, Yisrael Amado Montoya, Yizak Elizion Montoya, and Ben David Montoya. Her Great-Grandchildren: Amanda’s: Arturo Roman Sandoval and Abrum Sandoval Fermin’s: Gavriel Baeza, Eliyah Baeza, Zephaniah Baeza, Azariah Baeza, Josiah’s: Anna Eliza Montoya, Josiah John Montoya, Josephine Hellen Montoya, Naomi Esmeralda Montoya, Elias Edwardo Montoya. Jennifer’s: Jace Gutierrez. Her siblings: brothers-Ramon Sanchez (Marica) Lolo Sanchez (Luz) Sisters: Gavina (Jose) Payan Lupe (Hector) Tarango
A Viewing will be held at Heritage funeral home on Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm The Rosary will be at our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church at 7:00 pm-8:30 pm. The funeral Mass will be held Friday, June 6, 2025 at our Lady of Fatima at 10:00 am, officiated, by Father Sergio Legarreta. The burial will follow at the Van Horn Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving are all her grandsons. Fermin Baeza, Josiah Montoya, Ethan Montoya, Christian Montoya, Yisrael Montoya, Yizak Montoya. Honorary pallbearers: Pola’s Great-grandsons. Roman Sandoval, Abrum Sandoval, Jace Gutierrez, Josiah Montoya, Gavriel Baeza, Ben David Montoya, and Zephaniah Baeza.
The family wishes to extend our sincere gratitude and thank you for your love and care towards our beloved mother to Dr. Cummings, Dora Corrales, Rocio Apgar, Sandra Navarrete, Beth Gary and to all her friends and family and the whole community for your love and generosity. Thank you so much,
