Ralph DeGuardi, 87, of Moorpark, California, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. He was born Rafaeli DeGuardi, known to his family as ‘Sonny’, on September 18, 1937, at home in Chicago, Illinois. He was the last and youngest child of Andrianna Lopes DeGuardi and Rosario DeGuardi. He is survived by his daughter Susan DeGuardi Pavone, grandson Kevin, daughter Diane DeGuardi Tutor, husband Larry, grandson, Bill, and son J Quentin DeGuardi, grandsons, Nicholas, Daniel, Donovan, Christopher and Matthew. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years Jeanine.
In 1956, Ralph graduated from Austin High School and met his future wife, Jeanine Lino. Upon first seeing her, in a school stairwell, he told his friend Phil that he was going to marry her. Phil laughed at this as Ralph didn’t even know her name at the time. On September 14, 1957, he married Jeanine at Our Lady of the Angels Church. They had three children, Susan, Diane and Quentin.
In 1969, Ralph accepted a job transfer and he and Jeanine moved their family to California. Ralph enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In recent years, Ralph began watercolor painting. He enjoyed learning new techniques and was very talented. Receiving one of his paintings was a treasured gift.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
