Randy Okrzesik, age 66 of Itasca, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Devoted husband to Kathy of 43 years; proud father of Jason (Nicole), Sean (Nikki), and Evan (Morgan); cherished grandpa of Beckam, Camden, and Kennedy; adored brother of Bob, Nancy, and Sandee; and brother-in-law of Bob, Ed, and Mark; loving son of the late Chester and Rosemarie Okrzesik and loving son-in-law of Katie and the late Oswald Scheuer; supportive uncle, great uncle, and godfather.
Randy loved all sports, playing basketball at Holy Cross HS, University of Evansville and Valparaiso University where he graduated. He actively coached, refereed and umpired basketball, baseball and men’s softball for more than 3 decades. After 20 enjoyable years as a sales rep for Kehe Foods he decided to try substitute teaching and found his calling. 17 years later Randy retired from Peacock Middle School as a Teaching Assistant, a role he truly loved. In recognition of his leadership and mentorship, he was nominated by his colleagues and received the inaugural Guiding Light Award in 2024, presented by the Mayor of Itasca.
Randy found his greatest joy in the simple moments spent with his wife and close friends, truly cherishing every celebration, family gathering, and game shared with his children and grandchildren. No distance was too great for Randy—he would eagerly pack up and travel near or far, never missing a game. He was always present—supporting, encouraging, and making memories that will last a lifetime.
Visitation will be held from 9:30am -11:00am on Friday, August 8th, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00am at Saint Peter the Apostle Church, 551 N Rush Street, Itasca. Interment private. For funeral info 630-250-8588 or oaksfh.com.
