Randy LaVerne Owens, 66 of Euclid, MN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 23, 2025, at Catholic Eldercare on Main, Minneapolis, MN.

The service to celebrate Randy's life will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Stephanie White officiating.

Visitation will be one hour before the service.

Burial will follow at the Melo Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Angus, MN.

On June 11, 1959, Randy was born to LaVerne and Marlene (Myhrer) Owens in Thief River Falls, MN. He was baptized and confirmed Melo Lutheran Church, rural Angus, MN. He attended school in Crookston, MN, graduating in 1978. After graduating, Randy continued to work on the family farm until his health began to fail.

Randy was united to Debra Effhauser in April 1996 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND. Debra died on December 20, 2014.

Randy was an avid hunter and fisherman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brother, Gary. Deer season was Randy's favorite time of year. Once he shot his deer, Randy would continue to help others with their deer. Being outdoors was where Randy always wanted to be. Randy was God Father to his niece, Gina Trehus.

Randy is survived by his mother, Marlene Owens, Thief River Falls, MN; siblings: Cindy (Dewey) Trehus of Mandan, ND, Gary (Nicole) Owens of Euclid, MN, and Brad (Angie) Owens of Euclid, MN; three nieces, Gina Trehus, Kayla (Cordell) Booke, and Mikayla Owens; five nephews, Jacob Owens, Dilon Owens, Mason Owens, Tanner Owens, and Matthew Owens; brother-in-law, Daniel Holen; as well as many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, LaVerne Owens; baby brother, Carl; and sister, Susan Holen; his grandparents; and numerous aunts, uncles, and friends.
