Raquel “Rachel” Natividad, 82, of Pecos, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025, in Odessa, Texas.
Born on November 23, 1942, in Texas, Rachel lived a life marked by love, devotion, and service. She married the love of her life, Ramon L. Natividad, in November 1963. Their 61 years of marriage were filled with strength, commitment, and countless cherished memories. Ramon preceded her in death in March 2025. Rachel was a dedicated employee of Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD, where she served as a school bus driver for many years. She had a deep love for the children she transported daily, treating them with care and compassion as if they were her own. Known for her strict, stern, but fair demeanor, she earned the admiration of students, parents, and school staff alike. Outside of work, Rachel found joy in sewing and crafting. As a skilled seamstress, she created countless beautiful pieces for family and friends. She was also a proud and loving pet mom to her dogs, Isabel and Chatha, who survive her.
Rachel is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ramon L. Natividad; her parents; her brothers Ismael, Sebastain, and Frank Salcido; her sister Ramona Salcido; her granddaughter Samantha Natividad; and her son-in-law Frank “Buster” Alvarado.
She is survived by her children: Annabel Alvarado of Lovington, NM; Irma Primeaux and husband Chris of Odessa; and Steven Natividad and wife Charlene of Odessa. Her grandchildren include Yvette Rhoades and husband Alex of Alto, NM; Christopher Alvarado of Lovington; Noah Primeaux and DeeJahna Primeaux of Odessa; and Yahir Salinas and Josue Salinas of Lovington. Rachel was also a proud great-grandmother to Annalynn Rhoades and Kristopher Draco Alvarado Jr along with Sister Rosa "Cooca" Cedillo, Brother Felix "Ken" Salcido. She leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will forever cherish her memory. Rachel’s legacy of faith, warmth, strength, and creativity will continue to shine through the lives of all who knew and loved her.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Mount Evergreen Cemetery.
